The most impressive feature of the MBT program is that it has in-house businesses that are owned and operated by MBT students.

Central to the mission of the MBT program, these businesses provide education and practical experience in basic science disciplines related to biotechnology, and communication and business skills required for successful careers in biotechnology.

In 2003, in collaboration with the University of Calgary’s Master of Biomedical Technology program and the Biotech Training Center, Pipette Calibration Services & Sales International was established. The company became self sufficient after the first year, with experienced and well trained staff.

Today, PCSS International services over 1000 pipettes annually, and has satellite ventures in Nigeria and Ethiopia

The Biotechnology Training Centre is dedicated to training biomedical scientists for this expanding industry sector. The teaching facility is equipped to instruct students in state of the art techniques in biotechnology including molecular biology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, protein biochemistry, microscopy and cell culture.

The BTC also offers workshops for MSc and PhD students, research technicians, postdoctoral associates and faculty, and workshops for high school students and teachers to give them exposure to current the technology and its applications in medicine, agriculture and industry.

Let's Talk Science is an accessible and affordable program for teachers that can bring the classroom to you, or you bring your class to our state-of-the-art facility. We have a variety of class sessions and workshops available. They're fun, educational, and hands-on

Do you have a great idea to start a student-run MBT Business? We would love to hear from you!
